Mario OC Princess Group Rules

Since this is a Super Mario Bros. fangroup, we only specifically feature female Mario OC/FC characters of royal or noble status. So, your OC does not have to be just a princess in order to join this group!

She can be a Princess, a Queen, a Baroness, Countess, Marquise, or even a Lady of the Aristocracy, etc... So long as your OC is part of a royal circle, she will be accepted!

As noted above, this group is just for OC characters, so your character cannot be an actual canon character that you have adopted or reinvented as your own OC.

For instance, we will not accept your re-imagining or your story's version of Peach, Daisy or Rosalina, or any other canon female character.

We strive to be respectful to the canon Mario universe, so your OC mustn't be the ruler of an already existing Kingdom.

For instance, King Bowser rules the Koopa Kingdom, Prince Dreambert rules the Pi'illo, and Queen Bean rules the Beanish, etc... so your OC cannot rule those kingdoms.

Your OC is allowed to be related to a canon character(s) (Mario & Luigi, Peach, Daisy, etc...). However, we must be stricter in accepting these types of characters. Please note below:

Your canon-related character MUST be a well-developed character. We will not accept a character if you just made her because you wanted to make an OC that is related to Peach, Daisy, Rosalina or drawn to look like them. We have to see you put effort into establishing herself, and we reserve the right to decline any submissions of characters of this kind who are in need of more development.
Keep in mind that if your OC is related to a royal character like Peach, your OC's right to rule cannot be greater than Peach's right to rule. Otherwise, that would make your OC the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, or another canon kingdom (please refer to the third rule above).
Keep in mind that, if there are already other OCs in this group who are related to the canon character(s) that your OC is related to, then your OC may be declined if she is too similar to the other member's OC.

_{If you do have a canon-related character, please let us know more about her in the note that you send to us to submit her, and we will debate on her via a voting process. If she is a well-developed character, then you should have nothing to worry about!}


Your OC is permitted to be a villain as well as a heroine, but she must not be too overpowered or "Mary-Sue like".

Your OC must not have killed off canon characters, as this is a friendly Pro-Mario-canon-character group that strives to keep violence and graphic content to a minimum. No Peach or Rosalina haters, please!
Your OC must not try to threaten death on any of our members' royal OCs through any medium (comments, artwork, literature, notes etc...) unless the other person is aware of this and is okay with it. In which case, all graphic content is limited to mild, graphic content or PG-13/Teen content.

While we prefer to accept human/humanoid characters, your royal OC may be from any Mario species.

Don't forget, a Koopa Princess cannot rule the Koopa Kingdom, and a Toad Princess cannot rule the Mushroom Kingdom!
We will also accept an OC that is your own original species, but keep in mind that we will also require that you write a biography for your species in addition to your OC's biography.

Lastly, joke characters are not accepted. Sorry, Honeycake. :' (


If you're not sure if your character meets our character guidelines, or feel that, despite not meeting all of the guidelines, your character is a well developed character that you'll be active with, you're welcome to send the group a note with an image of her and a written biography, and we'll check to see if she's acceptable for the group. If not, we'll provide you with a reason why and give you advice on what to change so your OC is acceptable for the group. We at Mario-OC-Princess strive to help others develop and improve their OCs, so don't be afraid to check with us first!




To get a folder of your princess in the group, you will first need to join the group as a member. Requests to join are automatically approved. Once you're a member, then you will need...

At least 10 deviations of your royal OC.

Both Artwork and Literature are accepted as "deviations", and you may even present us artwork of your princess in other forms if you so wish (clay sculptures, puppets or plushies you've made, Barbie/Monster High doll-modding, cosplays, etc...)! Be creative! You don't have to just draw!
Although we accept art on any skill level, your submissions must show that you've put effort into them. Please do not send us blurry pictures taken with your phone, simple/unfinished sketches, or literature that you did not proofread first.
At least 6 of these deviations must be drawn or written by you. This means that you have to draw/write the whole thing yourself, which excludes gift art, collabs, and commissions, which are created (or partially created) by other people.
The other 4 may be drawn/written by your friends as gift art or by commissioners, and this constitutes as fanart of your OC, and doesn't have to be created by you. However...
Please note that we will never accept deviations that were made (by you or anyone else) using bases, doll-makers, traced images, or copy/paste images from the internet. This kind of artwork will be declined from the group and/or removed immediately. These mediums are good for practice, but we only want to see your very best work!

On Literature...

Your writing should feature your royal OC as the protagonist and written in story or play format. (For example, please do not include OOC, script or "crack" writing, and do not shift the main focus from your OC to different characters too often).
Your story must be at least 500 words long or more, and you must put effort into your work. This is writing that is easy to read, and has no major errors. (no slang/informal writing, or emojis/emoticons in your work, please).
No plagiarism from any other existing writing or stories will be accepted as literature into the group!

You will also need...

1 written biography about your OC.

This may either be submitted as literature or as a deviation (if you want to display some artwork on her bio, as well), but having an image to go along with your biography is not required, unless all 10 of your deviations are literature.
Your OC's biography should include a basic summary or your character (Name, age, Title (Princess, Queen, etc...), Kingdom (or where she lives), Alignment (Good or Evil)), as well as provide us a little information about her personality (Her likes, her dislikes, 5 words that describe her, a short, paragraph summary about her personality, as well as a brief backstory about her or her family).
We also strongly encourage you to write a little about the kind of kingdom she rules. (What is the name of the Kingdom? Does your OC still live with her family? What kinds of Mario citizens live there? Toads? Koopas?). Try to at least write us a few sentences about it!

Remember, if you are having trouble developing your character, are unsure if she's a Mary Sue or not, or you cannot think of many ideas, feel free to come and talk to us! Just leave us a comment on this journal or send us a note, and we'll be happy to help you out! We want you to have fun and make the character to your liking! We've all had characters for several years, it's not a problem to help you work out something you're having trouble with, or giving you some constructive criticism. (And criticism will always be constructive, we'll never be rude about it or tear you, or your character, down.) We are not another Super Mario Princess group with artwork; we are here to have fun and be the best the best Mario OC group around!

Once you have everything ready, please send a note to Mario-oc-princess with links to your 10 deviations and your 1 biography, and we'll respond as fast as we can to see if your princess will be approved! You may also note the mods on their own accounts if you'd like a faster response!




Congratulations! You now have your folder! But, there are a few things to keep in mind once you have it.

You must actively represent your princess OC in the group in order to keep your folder.

This means that you must post a deviation featuring your own artwork to the group once every 6 months. You can do this by either submitting artwork to your folder OR by participating in events or contests.
You also must post artwork to your princess folder at least once every 8 months. That means that, even if you only draw for events or contests, that means that there are still no pictures being submitted to your OC's folder. However, if you have been active in the group, but haven't submitted artwork to your folder in over 8 months, we'll be more understanding and simply send you a friendly reminder to do so.
Keep in mind that having someone submit fanart of your OC to your folder doesn't mean that YOU are active, and doesn't count towards your activity in the group.
Your folder must have at least 10 deviations and 1 biography in it at all times. It's okay to delete or remove old artwork from the group if you're no longer happy with it, but you must remember to replace the old artwork that you're removing in order to keep the folder.
You may only have 3 folders to ensure that we do not have a plethora of inactive folders. But, we'll grant you more than three folders if you prove to us that you're up to the task of keeping each folder active.

Lastly, If you know in advance that you may be becoming inactive for longer than 6 months (having family issues, moving, no internet, deciding to hide your artwork for a while, or even going away to serve in the military)--whatever the reason, please let any of the mods know about your situation ASAP so we know what's going on and know we know not to delete your folder. We'll be happy to work with you and to give you the time and support you need. Depending on the situation, we'll give you time to sort it out with a minimum of 6 months from the time you note us about your situation. However, if you are inactive for longer than you anticipate and we do not hear from you, we will have to delete your folder. But, you will be welcome to re-submit your folder when you return.

We strive to make Mario-oc-Princess a fun and stress-free place for all of our members to be a part of. That said, we have some rules for you to follow:

Please be respectful of everyone and the art that they make in the group. Rudeness towards a person or their art is frowned upon and multiple complaints from members will result in a warning to the offending member.

Please do not spam or overuse profanities while in the group or in the chat. If a moderator asks you to stop using them, please do so.

We do not accept or tolerate hate art, or art with depictions of moderate or extreme violence or gore. A little bit of blood/ bruises and punching won’t hurt, though. We like to think of our group as being rated PG to PG-13 at the most extreme.

We also do not accept pornographic images or highly suggestive pictures or literature. This includes fetish works.

Please do not repeatedly submit artwork that you know does not meet the artwork guidelines for the group (artwork that uses bases, doll-makers, tracing, inappropriate content, etc...). We will leave you a comment providing you with a reason as to why it is declined, so purposefully submitting the same artwork again will be treated as deliberate defiance.

Art theft in any form will result in immediate disciplinary action and revocation of their member privileges in the group. Do not do it.

All discussions about declined artwork or any other issues with mods should be discussed in a friendly, calm manner on both accords.

Finally, We do not tolerate cyber-bullying from or towards moderators, members or non-members. This includes repeated hateful, sexual or other unwanted comments on others' artwork, on their userpage, on the group's front page, in the Discord chatroom, or away from deviantArt. Non-members will be permanently banned from joining, submitting artwork to, or making comments in the group. If you feel like you've been cyber-bullied by someone in this group, please note one of the mods about the occurrence, and we will deal with the situation as swiftly as possible.

Offending any of these rules will often only result in a warning first, but some of the more serious offenses, including repeat offenses, may result in the member, non-member, or moderator being barred from submitting artwork from the group for a limited time, having their folders removed from the group, all the way up to being blocked and/or banned from the group.



The Rule journal will be updated constantly over time; so if we make any major changes to it, we will let you know via posting a journal, so please make sure that you're watching our journals in your watch preferences for the group!
